🌻 Solarpunk - Beta Patch arrived!
8 months ago – Wed, Feb 11, 2026 at 08:01:28 AM

Hello dear Solarpunk backers 👋,

We hope you’ve been having a great time with the beta so far. Today we pushed a new beta update live and wanted to share what has changed and what we have fixed. You’ll find the full list further below.

Since some of you have asked about a few open topics, we would like to address them properly before diving into the patch notes.

🚪Beta Access

If you have not received your key yet, please check your emails. The keys were sent via BackerKit to all Kickstarter backers.

If you missed the news, please take a look at the update from two weeks ago here:

If you still cannot find your key, please reach out to us:
Please use our Discord as the first point of contact. If you don’t have Discord, feel free to send us an email ([email protected]).

We are working on a new trailer.

🎮 Console Versions

We are actively working on console versions and currently plan to officially announce them in March.

The console port is handled by MiPuMi Games, a very experienced team that has worked on projects such as Indiana Jones and Hitman. They bring deep expertise in multiplayer systems, console development, and Unreal Engine.

Due to partner agreements and NDAs, we cannot share specific platforms or dates yet, but development is well underway.

Cross platform multiplayer will not be supported.

Trailer: Coming in 2 weeks

🗺️ Our Current High Level Plan

Please keep in mind that things may still change depending on beta feedback:

  • January: Beta started
  • February: Multiplayer focused trailer
  • March: Console announcement
  • Spring: Release date announcement

At the moment, we are still aiming for a release in the first half of this year. However, we want to carefully evaluate beta feedback before locking anything in.

Trailer: Focus is on co-op mode

🎢 Post-Release Updates

We would also like to clarify something that seems to have caused a bit of confusion.

Right now, as a two person development team, our full focus is on the beta phase. This means we have not made concrete post release plans yet. However, this does not mean that we do not want to support the game after launch. Quite the opposite.

Our goal is to continue supporting and improving Solarpunk for as long as it makes sense and as long as you enjoy being part of it. We care deeply about this project and want to see it grow in a healthy way.

Have you tried out the transport drones in the beta yet?

🌱 Solarpunk Beta Playtest (formerly Early Access) Begins Now!
9 months ago – Wed, Jan 21, 2026 at 04:01:53 AM

Happy New Year everyone 💚

We hope you had a good start into the new year. Before anything else, thank you for your patience, your trust, and your long support. We know many of you have been waiting for a very long time and we truly do not take that lightly.

💫 TLDR

  • Solarpunk will release directly as version 1.0 instead of Early Access
  • To keep our promise, we are starting a Steam Beta for all backers
  • More information about the console version will be available soon (after the beta).
  • Bug-Tracker // Feedback-Formular // Solarpunk Discord
  • Please use our Discord as the first point of contact. If you don’t have Discord, feel free to send us an email ([email protected]).

Release Plan Update
We made the decision to skip Early Access and release Solarpunk directly as version 1.0. The reason for this is simple: we are genuinely very happy with the game. The vision we had from the start has been reached. Solarpunk is easy to get into, it is a lot of fun to play together with friends in multiplayer, and it gives players the freedom to be creative in a sandbox world. We are proud of what the two of us have built.

If the game is successful, we would of course love to continue working on updates. Right now, there are no concrete post launch plans yet. Our full focus is on delivering a strong 1.0 release.

What about Early Access and Backer Access?
We originally promised every backer Early Access on Steam. Since our plans have changed, and we still want to give you early access to the game, we are now offering all backers access to the beta playtest on Steam instead.

Beta Phase
We already completed an Alpha test and thanks to your feedback we improved many things, especially the early game to make the start more fun and clearer, and the late game with more automation options. Now we want to move into Beta. Your feedback during this phase is extremely important to us.

How do I access the Beta
All of you have just received a Steam key for the Solarpunk Playtest, or already had one before (update the Game). This gives you direct access to the Beta version on Steam.

Important: this is not your final game key. You will receive that at release.

Multiplayer
Multiplayer will be available for all Kickstarter backers starting January 20. Please expect bugs here. You will still encounter bugs in Multiplayer mode. Singleplayer is already in a much better state and should be very playable. Please keep this in mind when testing.

Console Versions
We already have a concrete plan for consoles and will share more details very soon. For now, our full focus is on the Beta.

👉 Before you jump in

  • Please read through this Google Doc we prepared. If the file does not open, it may be because too many people are accessing it. Please try again in 10 minutes or click on this alternative.
  • Please use our Discord as the first point of contact. If you don’t have Discord, feel free to send us an email ([email protected])
  • And yes, if you’re a content creator, you’re welcome to livestream the Playtest!
  • After you have played and tested the game extensively, please send us your feedback using the feedback form. This is the only way we can improve the game.

⚙️Current Progress

Development is moving steadily forward. The core gameplay loop is in place, content is being polished, and the Beta phase will help us identify remaining issues, balance problems, and missing quality of life improvements. Here is a summary of all changes since the alpha test:

  • Death is less punishing. You now only lose 15 percent hunger and thirst, no double penalty
  • Ping system added. You can mark locations for other players. Shortcut G
  • Chests now support sorting and quick stacking
  • Animal AI completely rewritten. Animals react to their environment, move correctly, avoid each other, and find food and water more reliably
  • Optional simplified flight mode for cozy gamer. Wind no longer affects the airship

  • Transport Drone reworked and available earlier. Starts with one slot, can be upgraded later. Only flies when there is something to pick up and free inventory space
  • Automatic Drills no longer produce stone as a byproduct. Stone can now be mined at dedicated drill spots in the world
  • Automatic Fisher has a new role and is mainly used to collect algae for advanced crafting
  • New world option to share Research Table unlocks across all players
  • Signs are available much earlier so you can label your base from the start
  • Weather system reworked and more consistent in multiplayer. Rain collectors now fill even if you skip rainy nights by sleeping
  • Improved Airship Dock. When powered, you can target it with your airship and activate a boost to reach distant locations faster
  • Recycler replaced by a Post Box. Send items to the merchant to receive tickets for the vending machine.
  • Sheep are now attracted by corn, not wheat
  • Gamepad controls greatly improved and expanded
  • Manual Switch now unlocks together with the Weather Station, enabling simple logic setups
  • Automatic water and food troughs added.
  • Torch can now be crafted via Quick Craft
  • More plants added to the world for gathering.

Known Issues

  • Automatic Food Trough currently generates food from energy. This will be changed in an upcoming update to use an inventory instead
  • Completing all merchant trades leaves one extra blueprint. This is reserved for a future update
  • Drones cannot transport items with durability, such as tools

With love,
The Solarpunk Dev Team 💚

📅 Solarpunk: An Important Update About Our New Release Plan
11 months ago – Thu, Nov 13, 2025 at 06:07:16 AM

Hey Solarpunk Kickstarter Backer,
Please read this text carefully!

We know many of you have been waiting patiently for Solarpunk, and today we want to share an important update. Solarpunk means the world to us, but as a small two-person team, every detail takes time.

We want to make sure it truly feels special when you finally get to play it, so we made the decision to move the release to next year.

Over the past months, Solarpunk has grown beyond anything we could have imagined. We’ve now reached over 900,000 wishlists on Steam, had one of the most successful demos during Steam Next Fest in February with over 100,000 downloads, and our Kickstarter campaign was a huge success thanks to all of you. We’re incredibly proud of these milestones, but they also come with the pressure to deliver something truly great.

One of the biggest parts of that is the multiplayer experience. Building a smooth, stable, and enjoyable co-op mode is one of the most complex challenges in game development. It takes extensive testing, fine-tuning, and a lot of time to make sure everything runs seamlessly for everyone. That’s why we decided to take a bit more time to ensure the multiplayer is as fun and reliable as the single-player experience you’ve already seen.

Speaking of which, our single-player playtest was a huge success. 93% of testers said they would recommend the game, which makes us incredibly happy. It also helped us identify areas for improvement, and the upcoming multiplayer test will help us take the final steps before launch.

This will be the final delay, and we can confidently say that Solarpunk is now entering its final phase. Thank you for your endless patience, your trust, and your excitement. You’ve supported us for years, and that means everything to us. We promise the wait will be worth it.

🚶What are the next steps?

After the single-player playtest (read the KS Update), we made some changes based on your feedback (only Kickstarter Alpha Access Backers had access).

You can read about these changes in the latest KS update.

We are currently preparing everything for the multiplayer playtest. The number of players who have access to the co-op mode will be gradually increased.

We don't want to give a date (we haven't been very good at meeting deadlines in the past :P), but we will let you know very soon.

With love and gratitude,
The Cyberwave Team 💛

🌿 Solarpunk Dev Update - October
12 months ago – Fri, Oct 24, 2025 at 06:31:18 AM

Hey everyone!

We’re back with another exciting update to share what’s been happening behind the scenes in Solarpunk! From your amazing playtest feedback to lots of new quality-of-life improvements and multiplayer progress… there’s a lot to talk about.👀

Let’s start!

🧠 Playtest Feedback Summary

First of all, a huge Thank You to everyone who joined our recent singleplayer playtest. Your feedback has been incredibly valuable and has already started shaping our next steps.

Here’s what stood out most:

💚 What you loved:

The cozy, relaxing atmosphere: Solarpunk truly feels like a calm escape, which is exactly what we want it to be.

The visuals and lighting: From gentle sunrises to rainy days, the world’s mood and aesthetic really shine.

The building system: Intuitive, creative, and rewarding, especially with how easily materials can be reclaimed.

The progression and automation: Unlocking new features and using drones feels fun and satisfying.

🔧 What needs improvement:

  • Inventory management: Players really want “craft from storage,” sorting options, and bigger stack sizes.
  • Airship controls: Some found flying a bit too sensitive and wished for an autopilot option for long trips.
  • Early-game pacing: Cotton grows too slowly and tools break too fast, making the early hours grindy.
  • Late-game goals: Players want more content, quests, and reasons to keep exploring.
  • Performance: Thunderstorms caused FPS drops and lightning bugs that sometimes hit players unfairly.
  • Animal systems: Some pathfinding issues caused animals to get stuck and stop producing.
  • Controller support: Needs more polish to fully support controller and Steam Deck play.
  • Tutorials: Players asked for clearer explanations for systems like electricity and crop sheltering.

All of this feedback has been carefully reviewed, and many fixes and improvements are already in progress!

🔨 What We’ve Been Working On

Here’s a quick overview of what the dev team has been working on since the playtest:

Quality-of-life & gameplay balance

  • Added new electric versions of the water trough and food dispenser — complete with new assets and icons.
  • Recycler can now be connected to power.
  • Cotton grows faster and trees drop more wood to reduce early-game grind.
  • Stone tools last 20% longer and lamps use less energy.
  • Watering can capacity increased by 20%.
  • Loot chests rebalanced to reduce excess ores and add more decorative plants.
  • Updated visuals for animal stats, improved icons, and added new background images.
  • The Survival Guide now includes a new Animal Care category, with explanations for breeding and transport.
  • Storms have been rebalanced: less player damage, fewer broken crops, and a fairer experience overall.

Airship improvements

  • Clearer instructions on how to dock at islands.
  • Multiple airship bugs fixed, doors, stats, storm borders, and camera issues.

Animal system fixes

  • Improved animal building placement to prevent pathfinding issues.
  • Fixed bugs with food and water troughs, stats replication, and names not displaying correctly.

Performance & polish

  • Fixed several weather and energy system bugs (like wind direction updates and visual issues).
  • Dozens of multiplayer sync fixes for smoother, more stable gameplay.
  • Lots of small typo and UI cleanups.

🌐 Multiplayer Test, Starting Soon

We know many of you are excited for the next multiplayer test!
It’s almost ready. We just want to implement your most important singleplayer feedback first. Once that’s done, we’ll announce the new multiplayer test date.

🏡 Community Creations

Our community never stops inspiring us!
Here are some amazing home bases built by our players in the Cyberwave Discord. Every one of these cozy creations shows just how beautiful and creative Solarpunk can be. 🌞 (See the screenshots below!)

Thank you all again for your patience and feedback.
Each update brings us closer to creating the Solarpunk game we all dream of. 💚
